The Updated Monroe County GIS Response Vehicle (MCU-4)

The  original MCU-4 was a  multi-purpose unit  that supported  day-to-day GIS operations and emergency situations for many years.  The truck, however, was in need of an update due to increased demand, lack of space, and the truck’s age.  The Monroe County Fleet Division located a 2006 Freightliner box truck in the summer of 2012 that would ultimately meet our needs. The new vehicle is much larger and gave the flexibility to add new technology.  The vehicle interior is equipped with four workstations, 2 rugged tablets, a 36”plotter, a scanner/copier/printer, a 32”SmartBoard LCD TV, 55” smart TV, County radios, refrigerator, microwave, restroom, and various office supplies.  The exterior now sports a  30-foot mast, a pan tilt zoom camera, and weather station.  The truck engine and generator are now fueled by diesel instead of gasoline, making it extremely efficient.  This improves the response range and operating time in the field.

The June Program at Braddock Bay has become a favorite for many and we do expect it to fill quickly.  If you plan to attend, we recommend registering early to reserve your spot!
