Grant Opportunities

The December program was on grant opportunities and how Counties and Municipalities can apply for grants to help offset the costs for GIS implementation. Gail Fischer, New York State Archives Regional Advisory Officer, presented on the New York State Archives grant process. Paul Rooney from ESRI and Ron Sassone from the Town of Greece also presented.

Instead of a formal presentation, GIS/SIG’s December Program gave members the opportunity to socialize with other GIS professionals while they enjoyed a delicious Dinosaur Bar-B-Que lunch.

GIS/SIG’s September program was held September 26th, 2002 and featured Bob Kossowski, Division GIS Manager, from the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA). Bob spoke on the NYSTA and Canal Corporation’s GIS program as well as some of the canal’s history. Our program included a two-hour tour on the Canal aboard the Sam Patch tour boat (www.sampatch.org).
